About us

Since January 2010, the Working Group „EMF and Environment” supplements the range of services of the WIK GmbH in Bad Honnef, Germany. Within the context of many years of discussion about the effects of electromagnetic fields on health and environment, the group deals with current scientific research and the public debate on the subject.

Our goal is to offer an array of sound information and communication services about research activities, public discussion, and expert assessment of potential effects of electromagnetic fields to relevant actors and to the public. Core tasks are monitoring of the national and international EMF research and debate as well as information, communication, and networking activities. The expertise of the working group is broadly based by this networking with national and international authorities, expert panels and scientific experts.

The German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology attaches great importance to communication about potential risks of modern communication technologies and supports the commitment of WIK in this field.

In addition, all relevant groups are invited to participate in that commitment with their own contributions to ensure that the scientific evidence will be more emphasized in public debate and that the necessary interdisciplinary exchanges between all groups in society can be promoted.
